Can I get sports injury treatment in India as an international patient?
Yes. Sports medicine surgeons in India’s accredited hospitals perform ACL reconstruction, meniscus and cartilage repair, rotator cuff and shoulder stabilization, Achilles repair and tendon treatment by keyhole surgery, followed by supervised rehabilitation and return-to-sport testing. Most arthroscopic patients leave hospital within a day or two. Najmcare reviews your MRI free within 24 hours and arranges your visa letter, transport, rehabilitation and stay. See our Medical Visa Guide.
The return-to-play ladder
Getting back to sport safely means passing clear tests at each step, not just waiting for a date on the calendar.

Move
Regain full, pain-free range of motion.
Strengthen
Build strength to within 90% of the other side.
Sport drills
Running, jumping, cutting and sport-specific skills.

Compared with typical USA and UK prices for surgery and rehabilitation.
MRI and surgery within days
Scans, diagnosis and surgery often fit into one short trip.
Arthroscopic expertise
Surgeons perform many keyhole knee, shoulder and ankle operations.
Surgery to the field

Sports injuries we treat
Select an injury type to see typical signs, treatment, return-to-sport time and the time you may need in India.
ACL and other knee ligament injuries
The ACL is often torn in football, basketball, skiing and cricket when you twist or land. Many athletes need reconstruction to return to pivoting sports.
Meniscus and cartilage injuries
The meniscus cushions the knee. Many tears can be repaired, which protects the knee from early arthritis. See Joint Replacement & Arthroscopy.
Shoulder injuries
Rotator cuff tears, dislocations and labral tears affect throwing, swimming, tennis and overhead sports.
Ankle sprains and Achilles injuries
Repeated sprains can leave the ankle unstable, and an Achilles rupture often needs fast treatment.
Elbow, wrist and hand injuries
Tennis and golfer’s elbow, ligament injuries and wrist tears often come from repeated strain.
Muscle and tendon injuries
Hamstring, groin and calf strains and tendon problems are common in runners and field sports. Good rehab prevents repeat injury.
Stress fractures and overuse injuries
Tiny cracks in bone from repeated loading, common in runners, dancers and military recruits.
Young athletes and teenagers
Growing bones have growth plates that need special care. Early assessment protects growth and long-term joint health. See Pediatric Surgery.

| Meniscus repair | Keyhole surgery | 4–6 months | Strength and hop tests |
| ACL reconstruction | Keyhole surgery | 9–12 months | 90% strength and hop symmetry |
| Rotator cuff repair | Keyhole surgery | 4–6 months (overhead 6–9) | Strength and throwing program |

Planning your trip as an athlete
A little planning helps you recover fully and stay eligible to compete.
- Time surgery for your off-season, and ask us about the best weeks to travel.
- Share your MRI, injury history and a short video of the movement that hurts.
- If you compete under anti-doping rules, check every medicine and injection, including steroids and PRP, with your federation before treatment.
- Ask your team doctor for a letter, and let us coordinate with them.
- Fly 5–14 days after keyhole surgery, as your surgeon advises, with clot precautions and an aisle seat.
- Bring crutches or a brace if advised, and request airport assistance.

Questions patients ask about sports injury treatment in India
Can I return to sport after ACL surgery in India?
Yes. Most athletes return to their sport 9 to 12 months after reconstruction, after passing strength and hop tests. Careful rehabilitation matters as much as the surgery.
How much does ACL surgery cost in India?
ACL reconstruction often costs about $3,500 to $6,500, depending on the hospital, room and graft. A rehab program costs extra. You receive a written estimate before travel.
How long should I stay in India after keyhole surgery?
Most patients stay 7 to 10 days, including 1 to 2 nights in hospital, the first physiotherapy sessions and a fitness-to-fly check. Rehabilitation then continues at home or in India.
Do I need surgery for every sports injury?
No. Many sprains, strains and tendon problems recover with rehabilitation. Surgery is for torn ligaments that cause instability, repairable tears, or injuries that do not respond to rehab.
Are PRP and stem cell injections worth it?
Evidence is mixed. PRP may help some tendon problems, while stem cell injections are mostly experimental. We explain the evidence, cost and risks so you can decide, and recommend proven options first.
I compete under anti-doping rules. Can I be treated?
Yes, but check every medicine and injection with your federation first, because some steroids and other treatments are restricted. Tell the doctor you are tested, and we coordinate with your team doctor.
Do you treat teenagers and young athletes?
Yes. Young athletes need special care for growth plates. A parent travels with the teenager, and the plan is coordinated with your own team and doctor.
How fast can I get an opinion?
Within 24 hours of receiving your MRI and reports. The opinion is free and carries no obligation.
