India has a large number of trained plastic surgeons and modern surgical hospitals. You can usually get a consultation and a surgery date quickly, at a fraction of the price in most Western and Gulf countries. Your safety and realistic expectations come first.
Procedures we help with
Choose an area to see common procedures, typical recovery and cost. Your surgeon will advise what is right for you.
What would it cost?
Indicative prices in US dollars for one procedure, including surgeon and facility fees.
Estimates for comparison only. Real prices depend on the surgeon, implant or technique, anaesthesia, hospital stay and extras such as compression garments. Ask for a written quote.
Safety comes first
Good results start with good choices. These are the questions to ask any surgeon, in India or anywhere.
Check qualifications
Look for a plastic surgeon with MCh or DNB in Plastic Surgery, registered with the National Medical Commission.
Choose an accredited hospital
Surgery should be in a fully equipped hospital with intensive care back-up and a qualified anaesthetist.
Realistic expectations
A good surgeon explains what surgery can and cannot do, and includes risks and scars.
Full medical review
Tell the team about your health, medicines and past surgeries. Some conditions mean surgery should wait.
Don’t rush or bundle
Combining many procedures or travelling soon after raises risk. Avoid anyone who pressures you.
Plan your aftercare
Stay long enough for your check-ups, and know who to contact once you are home.

Questions people ask
Is cosmetic surgery in India safe?
It can be, when done by a qualified plastic surgeon in an accredited hospital. All surgery carries risks such as bleeding, infection, scarring and anaesthesia reactions. Your surgeon will explain them before you agree.
How long should I stay?
Plan about 1 to 2 weeks for most procedures, such as rhinoplasty, breast surgery or liposuction. A facelift may need up to 2 weeks. Your surgeon decides when you are safe to fly.
Can I see before-and-after photos?
Yes. Ask for examples of the surgeon’s own work for your procedure, shared with patient consent. Results vary from person to person.
Can I combine procedures?
Sometimes, such as a tummy tuck with breast surgery, but longer surgery raises risk. Your surgeon will tell you whether combining is safe for you.
What if I’m unhappy with the result?
Healing takes months, so judge results later. Ask in advance about the revision policy, who pays, and how follow-up works once you are home.
Is flying after surgery safe?
Not immediately. Long flights raise the risk of blood clots after some operations. Wait for your surgeon’s approval, and follow advice on walking and compression stockings.
