Can rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and other autoimmune diseases be treated in India?
Yes. Rheumatologists in India’s accredited hospitals diagnose and treat rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, spondyloarthritis, vasculitis, scleroderma and related conditions, with antibody tests, joint imaging and access to disease-modifying and biologic medicines. These conditions are controlled rather than cured, and early treatment protects the joints and organs. Najmcare reviews your reports free within 24 hours and arranges your visa letter, transport and stay. See our Medical Visa Guide.
From joint pain to remission: how care works
Autoimmune disease is treated in steps. The aim is to switch off inflammation early and keep it off with the least medicine needed.

Which joints, how long stiff, and what other signs.
Test
Blood antibodies, inflammation markers, scans.
Confirm
A firm diagnosis and a map of organs affected.
Calm the immune system
Disease-modifying and biologic medicines.
Protect and monitor
Regular blood tests, vaccines, bone and eye checks.
Why international patients choose India for rheumatology
Rheumatology specialists are scarce in many countries, and long-term medicines can be costly. India offers experienced rheumatologists, a wide range of treatments and clear plans for home.

Compared with typical USA and UK prices for tests and consultations.
Tests under one roof

Conditions we treat
Select a condition to see typical signs, tests, treatment and the time you may need in India.
Rheumatoid arthritis
The immune system attacks the lining of the joints, causing swelling and, if untreated, permanent damage.
Systemic lupus erythematosus (lupus)
An autoimmune disease that can affect skin, joints, kidneys, blood and brain. Kidney involvement needs close care. See Nephrology.
Ankylosing spondylitis and psoriatic arthritis
Inflammatory arthritis that mainly affects the spine and pelvis, or joints in people with psoriasis.
Sjögren’s syndrome, scleroderma and myositis
Connective tissue diseases that can dry the eyes and mouth, thicken skin, or weaken muscles.
Vasculitis, including Takayasu arteritis
Inflammation of blood vessels. Takayasu arteritis, which affects the aorta and large arteries, is seen more often in Asia.
Arthritis and autoimmune disease in children
Children can develop joint inflammation and eye problems too. Care is planned around growth. See Pediatrics.
Gout and crystal arthritis
Uric acid or other crystals inflame joints and cause sudden, painful attacks. See Metabolic Disorders.
Fibromyalgia and long-term pain
Widespread pain and tiredness with normal scans. Treatment focuses on sleep, activity and pain pathways. See Pain Management.

Questions patients ask about rheumatology in India
Can autoimmune diseases be cured?
Most are long-term conditions that are controlled, not cured. With early treatment many people reach remission, meaning little or no inflammation, and live active lives. Treatment is adjusted over time.
Is rheumatoid arthritis treatable in India?
Yes. Rheumatologists use blood tests and joint imaging to confirm it, then disease-modifying medicines, and biologics or targeted pills when needed. Starting early protects the joints.
How much does rheumatology care cost in India?
A consultation may start near $30, an autoimmune blood panel about $60 to $250, and a complete work-up about $300 to $900. Medicines, especially biologics, cost extra. You receive a written estimate first.
Are biologic medicines available in India?
Yes, including lower-cost biosimilar versions. The doctor decides if you need one and which suits you, after checking for infections such as TB and hepatitis.
Can I continue my medicine at home after treatment?
Yes. You leave with a written plan and a shared-care letter. Your own doctor can order the regular blood tests that some medicines need, and we arrange video follow-up.
Do lupus patients need a kidney check?
Yes. Kidney involvement is common and can be silent, so urine and blood tests are done early and repeated. A kidney biopsy may be advised.
How long should I stay in India?
A diagnostic work-up takes 3 to 6 days. Complex cases or starting infusions may need up to 10 days. The rheumatologist advises after reviewing your reports.
How fast can I get an opinion?
Within 24 hours of receiving your reports. The opinion is free and carries no obligation.
