What ENT treatment can you have in India?

ENT (ear, nose and throat) surgeons in India's accredited hospitals treat conditions of the ear, nose, sinuses, throat, voice box and neck. Common treatments include endoscopic sinus surgery, septoplasty for a blocked nose, tonsil and adenoid removal, ear drum and middle ear surgery, snoring and sleep apnoea surgery, voice and swallowing procedures, and thyroid and head and neck surgery. Most operations use a camera through the natural openings of the nose, mouth or ear, so there are few or no visible scars. Najmcare reviews your reports free within 24 hours and arranges your visa letter, transport and stay. See our Medical Visa Guide, Cochlear Implants and Audiology & Hearing Care pages.

When should you see an ENT surgeon?

Many ENT problems start mildly. These signs are worth a proper examination, often with a quick camera check of the nose and throat.

Nose and sinus

Blocked nose for more than 3 months, facial pressure, repeated nosebleeds, loss of smell, nasal polyps.

Ear

Ear discharge, a hole in the ear drum, hearing loss in one ear, ringing, dizziness or vertigo.

Throat and voice

Hoarseness lasting more than 3 weeks, repeated tonsillitis, trouble swallowing, a feeling of a lump in the throat.

Neck and sleep

A neck lump, a thyroid swelling, or loud snoring with daytime sleepiness and pauses in breathing.

Hoarseness lasting more than three weeks, a neck lump that does not go away, or trouble swallowing should be checked promptly, as these can occasionally be signs of something serious.

Questions patients ask about ENT treatment in India

Is ENT surgery safe in India?
Yes, when it is done by a qualified ENT surgeon in an accredited hospital. Many ENT operations, such as sinus surgery, septoplasty and tonsillectomy, are routine procedures. We share the surgeon's profile and hospital details before you travel.
How much does sinus surgery cost in India?
Endoscopic sinus surgery typically costs about $1,500-3,500, often 60-80% less than in the USA or UK. You receive a written estimate before you travel.
Do I need surgery for sinusitis?
Not always. Most sinus infections improve with medicines and nasal rinses. Surgery is considered when problems continue for months despite treatment, or when polyps or blockage are seen on a scan. A CT scan and camera examination help your surgeon decide.
How long should I stay in India after tonsil removal?
Most patients stay 7-10 days. Bleeding can occur around days 5-10 after the operation, so it is safer to stay close to the hospital during this time.
Can I fly after ear surgery?
Only when your surgeon agrees. Pressure changes in an aircraft can affect healing after ear drum and middle ear surgery, so the date is set by your surgeon, often after 1-2 weeks or more.
Can sleep apnoea be treated with surgery?
Sometimes. Surgery can help when a blocked nose, large tonsils or a collapsing palate or tongue base is the cause. A sleep study and camera examination show which treatment suits you. Many patients also need CPAP or weight management.
Can a deviated septum and nose shape be corrected together?
Yes. A septorhinoplasty improves breathing and changes the nose shape in one operation. See Cosmetic & Reconstructive Surgery for more.
Who treats a hoarse voice, swallowing problems or a neck lump?
An ENT surgeon examines the throat and voice box with a flexible camera and may arrange scans or a biopsy. If a tumour is found, the plan is made with your cancer team. See Cancer Care.
Emergency? A nosebleed that will not stop, bleeding from the mouth after tonsil surgery, sudden hearing loss, difficulty breathing, a swollen throat, or severe ear pain with high fever need urgent local care now. This page is for planned care and general information only.
