What weight-loss surgery can you have in India?
Bariatric surgery changes the stomach, and sometimes the route food takes through the gut, to help you lose weight and improve conditions linked to obesity such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and sleep apnoea. Surgeons in India's accredited hospitals offer sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, mini gastric bypass, endoscopic balloons and revision surgery, usually through keyhole or robotic methods. Most overseas patients stay 7-10 days. Najmcare reviews your reports free within 24 hours and arranges your visa letter, transport and stay. See our Medical Visa Guide and Robotic & Minimally Invasive Surgery.
Check your BMI and who may qualify for weight-loss surgery
Many guidelines consider surgery at a BMI of 35 or above, or 30 or above if you also have conditions such as type 2 diabetes. Some guidelines use lower thresholds for people of Asian background. Your surgeon decides after a full assessment.

Weight-loss procedures we arrange
Select a procedure to see who it suits, how it works, typical results and the time you may need in India.
Sleeve gastrectomy
Surgeons remove about 75-80% of the stomach and leave a narrow tube. You feel full sooner and hunger hormones fall. It is the most common first operation.
Roux-en-Y gastric bypass
A small stomach pouch is joined to the small intestine, so food bypasses part of the gut. It reduces hunger and calorie absorption and works well for acid reflux.
Mini (one-anastomosis) gastric bypass
A long, narrow stomach tube is joined to the intestine with a single connection. The operation is shorter and has strong weight and diabetes results. Surgeons discuss bile reflux risk and long-term follow-up.
Intragastric balloon
A soft balloon is placed in the stomach through the mouth, with no cuts, to help you feel full. It is removed after about 6 months and works best alongside a diet and lifestyle plan.
Revision and conversion surgery
Corrects weight regain, complications or reflux after earlier bariatric surgery, including gastric band removal and conversion.
Metabolic (diabetes) surgery
Bypass and sleeve operations can improve or put type 2 diabetes into remission in many patients, especially when diabetes is recent. Results vary between people.
Sleep apnoea, fatty liver, PCOS and joint pain
Weight loss often improves other conditions linked to obesity. Your team reviews each one before and after surgery.
Diet, vitamins and follow-up
Surgery is a tool, and the long-term result depends on how you eat and live afterwards.
