Pediatric Cardiology & Child Heart Care in India
Compassionate care for babies, children and teenagers with heart conditions: holes in the heart, blue baby syndrome, valve problems, rhythm problems and heart muscle disease, from paediatric cardiologists and child heart surgeons in JCI and NABH accredited hospitals, with full family support.
Can my child get heart treatment in India as an international patient?
Yes. India’s JCI and NABH accredited hospitals have paediatric cardiologists, child heart surgeons, paediatric cardiac anaesthetists and dedicated paediatric ICUs who treat holes in the heart, blue baby conditions, valve and vessel problems, rhythm problems and heart muscle disease, from newborns to teenagers. Many holes can be closed through a small puncture without opening the chest, and complex defects are repaired by experienced teams. NajmCare reviews your child’s echo and reports free within 24 hours and arranges visa letters, transport, family stay and child-friendly support.
From first echo to a healthy childhood: how care is planned
Every child’s heart is different, so the plan is built from careful scans and shared with parents at every step.

An echo, ECG and sometimes CT or MRI show exactly how the heart is built.
A clear plan
A paediatric heart team explains the options and the best timing.
Child-friendly procedure

Paediatric ICU recovery
Specialist nurses watch your child closely, with parents close by.
Growing-up follow-up
Regular checks and a plan for school, sport and later life.
Why international families choose India for child heart care
Child heart procedures can be costly and hard to schedule abroad. India offers experienced paediatric heart teams and family-centred care at a fraction of the price.

See how a child’s heart works, and what repair means
Tap a condition to see the four chambers change. Blue is low-oxygen blood and red is oxygen-rich blood. This is a simple illustration, not a diagnosis.

Planning your child’s heart treatment trip
A few simple steps make travel safer and calmer for your child.
- Bring all echo reports, scans, discharge summaries and birth records.
- Bring your child’s growth chart, vaccination record and medicine list.
- Tell us about breathlessness, blue spells or poor feeding before you travel.
- Carry feeds, comfort toys and essential medicines in hand baggage with a doctor’s letter.
- Ask the surgeon when it is safe to fly home, since this depends on the repair.
- Book a hotel close to the hospital, with space for a parent to stay.

Questions parents ask about child heart treatment in India
Can my child have heart surgery in India as an international patient?
Yes. Accredited hospitals treat children from many countries with device closure, surgery and paediatric ICU care, and we support the whole family with visas, stay and interpreters.
How much does child heart surgery cost in India?
A device closure of a hole or duct costs about $2,000 to $5,000, surgery for a VSD about $3,500 to $7,000 and repair of tetralogy of Fallot about $4,500 to $9,000, depending on the hospital and your child’s needs. You receive a written estimate before you travel.
Can a hole in the heart close on its own?
Yes. Many small holes, especially small VSDs and ASDs in babies, close by themselves in the first years. Your cardiologist follows your child with scans and treats only if the hole is large or causes symptoms.
Can a hole in the heart be closed without surgery?
Often yes. Many ASDs and PDAs can be closed with a small device through a vein or artery in the groin, usually with a stay of 1 to 2 days.
At what age is surgery done for a blue baby?
It depends on the defect. Some babies need surgery in the first days or weeks of life, while others, such as tetralogy of Fallot, are repaired at about 3 to 12 months. Your team explains the best timing for your child.
Can my baby fly to India for heart treatment?
Many children can, with planning, and your cardiologist advises whether it is safe. Very sick babies may need an air ambulance with a medical team. We help with an escort and travel dates.
Will my child live a normal life after heart surgery?
Most children with simple defects live a full, active life after repair, and complex defects need lifelong follow-up. Your doctor explains what to expect for your child.
Can both parents stay with the child?
We help with visa letters, hotels near the hospital and, where the hospital allows, a parent’s presence in the ward. ICU visiting rules depend on the hospital.
How fast can I get a specialist opinion?
Within 24 hours of receiving your child’s reports. The opinion is free and carries no obligation.
