Technology and techniques

Availability depends on the hospital and on whether the method suits your condition.

Robotic-assisted surgery

Helps the surgeon place knee and hip implants with very fine accuracy.

Keyhole (arthroscopic) surgery

Tiny cuts for ligament, meniscus and shoulder problems, with quicker recovery.

Minimally invasive spine surgery

Smaller incisions, less muscle damage and less pain after surgery.

Custom and modern implants

Options include durable high-grade implants, partial replacements and patient-specific sizing.

Fast-track recovery

Pain-control protocols that get you standing and walking within a day.

In-house physiotherapy

Rehabilitation starts in hospital and continues with a plan for home.

Questions people ask

Am I too old for joint replacement?

Age alone rarely rules it out. Your surgeon looks at overall health, heart and lung fitness and your daily needs. Many patients in their 70s and 80s do very well.

How long does a knee or hip implant last?

Modern implants commonly last 15 to 20 years or more, depending on your weight, activity and the implant used.

Do I need surgery at all?

Not always. Many problems improve with physiotherapy, injections, weight management or medicine. A specialist will tell you honestly if surgery is not needed yet.

When can I fly home?

After joint replacement, usually 2 to 3 weeks. After keyhole surgery, often sooner. Your surgeon will confirm. Ask about moving around and sock or blood thinner advice for long flights.

Can both knees be done together?

In selected healthy patients, yes. Your surgeon will advise whether one at a time is safer for you.

Are my X-rays and scans enough for an opinion?

Usually yes. Send recent X-rays or MRI images, a short history and any previous reports.
